Host of Kenyan officials to attend American Swimming Coaching Association course in Tanzania

The four-day event marks a significant milestone in the region's commitment to advancing swimming coaching standards and athlete performance
Twenty Kenyan coaches have applied for the upcoming American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) International Course scheduled for 27-30 June in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The coaches, varying from Kenyan schools including Woodcreek School, Juja Preparatory, Testimony Eldoret, Potterhouse, Nova-Pioneer, Dashing Dolphins, and St. Christopher’s School - Nanyuki, will be involved in a variety of programs aimed at different aspects of swimming coaching and management.
Notable names on the shortlist include: Shadrack Mutiso, Duncan Gitau, Hillary Leboy, Mathew Nguri, Saumu Ally, and Valentine Wambui.
Key among the programs in the Level 2 and 3 course, will be a Leadership course for club managers, a Swimmers Clinic on Mental Performance, and a Parent Education session, dedicated towards supporting children's swimming journeys.
The landmark event making its first stop in the East African region, will feature renowned swimming coach Chad Onken as the primary instructor.
Coach Onken, known for his expertise and success in developing elite swimmers, will lead a comprehensive curriculum designed to elevate coaching competencies across East Africa.
"We are thrilled to bring such a high-caliber event to East Africa,” Chairperson of Kenya Aquatics’ Technical Committee Omari Ali Omar said. “This course is a unique opportunity for our coaches, swimmers, and parents to gain invaluable insights from one of the best in the field. It’s definitely a step forward in our mission to raise the standard of swimming in the region.”
With the ASCA International Course, East Africa is set to become a hub of swimming excellence this June, fostering growth and innovation in the sport across the region.
The event is being held in collaboration with Champion Rise, High Performance Training Tanzania, Yingfa Swimwear, and Kiunsi Sports Network.
